Titumir, a traditional college in the capital, has long been peacefully protesting for an independent university. When the higher authorities did not support their movement, they were forced to take to the streets.
As part of their previously announced ‘Barasat Barricade to Mohakhali’, they blocked the roads and railways from 11 am. They stayed on the roads and railways to implement their program. The two trains stuck were the ‘Agnibeena Express’ bound for Tarakandi in Jamalpur and the ‘Bonalata Express’ bound for Dhaka that left from Chapainawabganj.
They are expressing regret that some casualties have occurred in this. However, they say that the situation could have been worse today and the people concerned should take responsibility for it. The protesters said why did the train run even after our previously announced program? They must answer for it.
And the agitating students said that the government is responsible for this situation. We are forced to take to the streets. They said that the protest program will continue until an advisor meets us.
